specializing in back country skiing and snowboarding are happy to stay open an hour later if need be to help you find any last minute items or forgotten gear.

Skis
We recommend a ski with a medium to fat width. A shorter length ski is often preferred for days spent in the trees. “New school” fat skis make deep powder skiing more fun with less exertion needed to turn.

Bindings
Alpine Touring or Telemark bindings are needed for back country travel on skis. There are various makes and models of back country touring bindings on the market; we recommend the use of releasable models. In order to get the most out of your trip, be familiar with your equipment. Check to make sure it is in good repair and that your group coordinates some sort of repair/spare set up.

Snowboards
back country snowboardingWe recommend a split board style snowboard for backcountry touring. If you are using this type of gear, it may be beneficial to incorporate some sort of a skinning crampon. If using snowshoes be prepared and in good physical condition. Collapsible poles are a must.

Avalanche Gear
Shovel: A compact metal blade is recommended.
Beacon: There are many good beacons on the market today. They are all different in the way that they function; it is a good idea to practice on a regular basis. All guests at Ice Creek Lodge will run through an avalanche scenario and individual beacon practice prior to touring on the day of arrival.
Probe: Please be sure it is in good working condition.

Climbing Skins
They should be in good condition with clean adhesive, sized to fit your skis. Avoid using skins that are too skinny for your fat skis as it can become more strenuous.

Clothing
Be sure to bring a comfortable day pack and a good layering system, including some sort of a water-proof, breathable shell. A full gear list will be sent out with your registration package to your Trip Leader.

Lodge Wear
Bring along comfortable clothes for lounging in the cozy ambiance of the lodge. Pack a pair of light weight running shoes for going to the out house, a light weight sleeping bag or duvet and a towel for the sauna, Ice Creek Lodge will provide the amenities mentioned on the Accommodation Page adding to the comfort of your stay as our guest.

**Please remember** you are flying into our remote back country lodge via helicopter and load restrictions are carefully calculated at 80lb’s total per person including food. All gear will be weighed at the staging area. Extra gear loads are available at a cost of $900.00 and will be billed to the group on site via credit card. Contact Ice Creek Lodge for more information.
