Getting to the lodge during the winter months is simple. Jump in the bird! Our staging area is in Burton, BC which is approximately a 1.5-hour drive from our office in Slocan. It is a 30-minute drive from Nakusp. The last 2 km of the drive is on a logging road that is plowed frequently. It is important to have an AWD or 4WD vehicle when traveling to the staging area.
Transfer begins at 9:00 am on Friday mornings (weather dependant). Once we arrive at the staging area, we prepare our gear loads for helicopter transport. It is important to be ‘shred ready’ when flying in the helicopter. You need to have your ski/snowboard boot on, day pack ready, ski/board in hand, and ready for a day in the mountains.
Prior to loading into the helicopter, our pilot will go over safety and etiquette around the helicopter. Please allow the Ice Creek Lodge team to load the gear into the helicopter.
